Since it was the last year of production for Full Figured Fashion Week or FFFWeek, and I was sitting in VIP, I decided to kick it up a notch and be red carpet ready.
Dress by Carmen Marc Valvo
Added a little hair jewelry...an artisan crafted Demasquinado barrette from Toledo,Spain.
I felt so beautiful and confident in my dress that I tweeted the designer a Thank You!
To my sweet surprise, he favored my photo posts and tweeted me a kiss.
The Full Figured Fashion Week Finale needed even a little more glam, so this time I went with alot of SPARKLE... a Badgley Mischa rose gold sequins dress to set off my tanned skin, paired with bronze shoes, although they photographed a bit darker.
THIS happened today:
"HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?!?!?!", is the question you are most likely asking yourself right now. Yeah, I know!!!!!
I'd love to say that its because she saw some of my work and HAD to find out who I am and now wants to keep me on her radar for a future collaboration of some type....I will of course be praying this happens and that I too can hang with her and Leah Remini, Lupe, Max and Emme on a day when Marc swings by to pick them up...sigh...a girl can dream!
But back to the real story. Once I heard Wendy Williams announce that Jennifer was going to be a guest on her show, I HAD TO BE IN THE AUDIENCE! I put my desire for tickets out into the FaceBook universe and a dear friend, Vicky, responded. She had tickets and invited me to be her guest for the taping. The Wendy Show sent out an email asking us to show up dressed as we would to attend a block party, because that was the 'Jenny From the Block' feel of the show. I immediately started to put together an outfit that was colorful, comfortable and with playful accessories.
Purple Sequined Perfection!
Boom Box...a block party must-have!
My I.D. Bracelet...because I AM SOMEBODY
No block party would be complete without this accessory...
Even the Wendy set was properly dressed for Jenn's arrival.
We weren't allowed to take photographs or video during the taping, so if you missed the show, you'll have to catch it on YouTube.
When the show aired, I appeared in so many of the audience shots during Wendy's Hot Topics segment.
I was in bobble-head mode nodding in agreement with almost everything Wendy said.
As you can see,its kind of awkward to watch and all kinds of awesome at the same time.
Now back to Jennifer and twitter. I posted this after the show aired:
Maybe she watched the show and saw my fabulousness? Perhaps she was endeared by the fact that I gave a shout out to her mom, Lupe? All I know for sure is that she favorited my tweet, and then the 'somebody-pinch-me' announcement was in my inbox: "Jennifer Lopez is now following you on Twitter".
And for those of you who wondered if it is REALLY Jlo and not a fake account...I checked too...and there it was, the blue check of authenticity:
I was super excited to hear the news that I was booked to do a fashion show in Bloomingdale's, during Full Figured Fashion Week. We all wore four different looks from various designers. These two outfits were my favorites:
Ralph Lauren top and shorts
This sassy dress is from Mynt 1792
The Models and our Host, Meaghan O'Connor, of Little Lime Dress.com
Bloggers: CeCe of Plus Size Princess and Alissa Wilson of Stylish Curves
Full Figured Fashion Week 2014 is about to take over NYC for reportedly the last time. I have such fond memories of walking in the first two years of the show, and look forward to attending the event every year. I woke up today feeling a little melancholy and decided to take a little trip down memory lane to remember a few of the favorite looks I modeled.
