One of the first calls I made was to my friend and Stylist, Steffy Allen. I didn't know any details of what Univision planned to do, but I knew I wanted her assistance in putting together a few camera ready looks. If you're a personal friend of mine, you know that I love to share opportunities with my talented friends.
On the first day of shooting I was excited to meet television journalist, Birmania Rios. She's a Dominican, native New Yorker who has been in the industry for a long time. Birmania is an audience favorite and DEFINITELY a favorite of mine!
On the second day of shooting they wanted to capture me doing a light workout outdoors to show the viewers how to stay healthy with some cardio and body movement.
I'm very happy with how the bio piece was done and I received wonderful feedback on Facebook and Twitter from many full figured women (and the men that love us) from both Puerto Rico and the U.S. The most important message that I wanted to share with the viewers was that there is an alternate universe where full figured women are happy with themselves even though we never see that on television or film ...THIS EXISTS! My new friends and followers were elated to see a story similar to theirs, one of a confidently curvy woman. People enjoy seeing a variety of looks, ages, races, experiencing different situations. As the saying goes, VARIETY is the spice of life! I'm all for keeping things spicy!
